Battle of the books begins early in the year with after school meetings.
The North Carolina Battle of the Books is a statewide program which requires students to read a list of books.

Safety Patrol
Sponsor:  Ms. McKinnon
Safety Patrol is proud to have a quality group of students as its members.  Safety Patrol is made up of our 5th-grade students who are recommended by their teacher.  These students promote good safety habits in and around the school.  The purpose of Safety Patrol is to help keep our school safe by preventing accidents from occurring and to develop leadership qualities in our members.  Being a member of the safety patrol is an honor that carries a great responsibility and a lot of dedication.


Global Student Council
Sponsor:  Ms. McKinnon
The purpose of the Gray’s Creek Elementary Elementary Global Student Council is to develop leadership potential, maintain good citizenship and school spirit among the student body.  Our hope is that future student council members always remember to be global students and to at least try and change the world…. one step at a time.

Go Far
Sponsor:  Ms. Poraczky
Go Far is a program for students currently in elementary(3 to 5).  The program goal is to help each participant train safely and complete a 5-kilometer road race while also promoting healthy living.
Go Far at Gray’s Creek Elementary will begin the week of September 10th and end with a 5k road race.
Go Far requirements are 1. You arrange to have your child picked up after each training session. 2. Encourage your child to complete the entire program.


BNN Bear News
Sponsor:  Ms. Vargas
BNN is proud to have a quality group of students as its members. BNN is formed by our 5th-grade students who are recommended by their teacher.  These students present each morning the announcements for the entire school.  The purpose of BNN Is to keep our stundents informed about what is happening around the school.It also  helps to develop leadership qualities in our members.  Being a member of BNN is an honor that carries a great responsibility and a lot of dedication.
